October 21 – US solar developer Silicon Ranch has increased a 4-GW master supply agreement with First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR), securing an additional 700 MW of the Arizona-based manufacturer’s thin-film solar modules for its expanding catalogue of contracted solar projects, the two said on Thursday.
The firms agreed to the 4-GW supply deal in April this year. It called for Silicon Ranch to receive the modules from 2023 to 2025. First Solar and Silicon Ranch have been partnering since 2015.
The expanded deal is in line with both companies’ pledges to increase domestic supply and promote lower-carbon production processes, according to the announcement.
Silicon Ranch remarked that it has recently announced other new agreements with strategic US partners, including a deal with Nextracker in May for 1.5 GW of Nextracker’s solar tracker technology through 2024, with expansion options.
