Nepal Oil and Gas Services Limited has officially rebranded as Nepal Energies as part of its transition from a fossil fuel focus to a renewable energy company. The rebranding was announced at a ceremony where Nepal Energies was unveiled to stakeholders and the public.
The company has a new vision statement of “accelerating Africa’s transition to reliable and sustainable energy” and a mission to increase Africa’s access to cleaner, affordable, and reliable energy that drives economic growth. The Group Managing Director, Ngozi Ekeoma, stated that the company’s transition is driven by the shift towards non-fossil fuels, climate uncertainty, international efforts to reduce the global carbon footprint, and the desire to be leaders in providing affordable and cleaner energy in Africa.
Ekeoma mentioned that the company has experience in the entire downstream and midstream value chain, including pipeline and storage construction, production and shipping, haulage and maintenance, and facility management. Despite facing internal struggles, the company was able to earn its first marginal field award in 2020 and has also established itself as an upstream player.
“The year 2022 for us has been a journey. We encountered some herculean task of onboarding multiple retail stations across the country.
“This was followed by the acquisition of more assets to expand operations, particularly our LPG business; but in the words of Nelson Mandela: Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it,” she affirmed.
Ngozi Ekeoma, the Group Managing Director of the company, stated that the organization has remained dedicated to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts such as the School for All Initiative (SAI) and Dream Alive Initiative (DAI) to address educational challenges, and the Access to Clean Water Initiative and Health Outreaches to address health issues. The company has also been actively involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Operation Clothe the Widows and SOS Outreaches underline our Women and Children empowerment strategies, while Clean Up Fridays, an in-house initiative where our staff set out to clean the environment of our host communities, covers our contribution to the environment and climate action, she concluded,” Ekeoma added.
During the unveiling ceremony, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nepal Energies stated that the transition to a renewable energy company is a positive step for the organization. The GMD emphasized that the focus of Nepal Energies will be on developing, delivering, and maintaining renewable energy sources for customers in an efficient, effective, and cost-effective manner.
Nepal Energies is dedicated to providing the African population with access to clean energy through a variety of products and services. The company is committed to not only ensuring the availability of clean energy in Africa, but also ensuring that people have the ability to access it, according to the Group Managing Director.
The unveiling ceremony also included the presentation of long service and meritorious awards to some members of the organization for their dedication, as well as awards of recognition to clients for their significant contributions to the success of Nepal Oil and Gas Limited.
