According to a report, TotalEnergies has acquired Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB), the primary biogas producer in Poland, along with a solar project development pipeline that has a capacity of 200 megawatts.
PGB, which operates in nine Polish regions with a workforce of 130 employees, is primarily focused on producing renewable energy and heat from biogas derived from organic waste. The company currently operates 17 power generation facilities and has one facility under construction, with a total power generation capacity of 166 GWh per year. Additionally, PGB has a development pipeline of 23 projects in its portfolio, according to TotalEnergies.
“The agreements highlight TotalEnergies’ dedication to expanding its renewable operations in Poland and Europe, as a whole, to contribute to the European Green Deal,” stated Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies.
Michel stated, “We are obtaining a strong position in Poland’s biogas sector by leveraging an established company’s demonstrated performance, skilled personnel, and extensive asset portfolio. In addition, we are broadening our presence in the renewable energy sector by acquiring a portfolio of solar projects.
Michel stated, “Through these two deals, we are delighted to assist Poland in advancing renewable energies and enhancing its energy independence. Furthermore, we anticipate the possibility of sharing our proficiency in offshore wind power, an area in which we have collaborated with KGHM, to support Poland.”
